Karolina Todirjana
Registered Osteopath
I have a good knowledge base of yoga, Pilates and postural correction exercises, which I like to share and incorporate into the take-home exercise plan for my patients. I have a particular interest in detecting the malfunctioning or suboptimal patterns in people’s daily life activities – how are you using your body while sitting on a sofa, walking your dog, gardening, and even looking at your sleeping position. I like helping my patients to become aware of those patterns and re-educate them how use their body in the most sufficient way. I like to incorporate breathing techniques into my treatment and exercise plans as I believe they can be effective in aiding good posture, stress-management, digestion and strengthening the core muscles.
I enjoy working with a range of patients, including children and elderly patients and my treatments are varied and tailored to suit with an individual approach. I have a long-standing and continuous interest in management of structural scoliosis, especially in children, and can help with sharing my knowledge in brace assessment and specialised exercise plans and techniques.

Osteopathy UK standards and regulations
You're in a safe pair of hands...
All osteopaths practicing in the UK …
All osteopaths practising in the UK must have completed rigorous training. Students of osteopathy follow a four or five-year degree course, during which they study anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, nutrition and biomechanics. In addition, they undergo a minimum of 1,000 hours of clinical training. Qualification generally takes the form of a bachelors degree in osteopathy – a BSc (Hons), BOst or BOstMed, or a Masters Degree in Osteopathy (MOst).
The General Osteopathic Council (GOsc) sets the standards of osteopathic education and requires qualified osteopaths to update training throughout their working lives, a process known as continuing professional development. The GOsC also ensures that all osteopaths comply with strict osteopathic practice standards and the Professional Standards of Practice (see download below) As well as completing the necessary training, osteopaths must also prove themselves to be in good health and of good character and have professional indemnity insurance cover.
All osteopaths at Osteopathics Harpenden…
All osteopaths at Osteopathics Harpenden are further professional members of The Institute of Osteopathy (originally the British Osteopathic Association.)
The purpose of the Institute is to unite, promote, develop and support the osteopathic profession, to improve public health and patient care. By working collaboratively with osteopathic institutions at local, national and international levels the iO strives to raise the standards of care by osteopaths, and improve the understanding and awareness of the public and fellow health professions to the benefits that osteopaths and osteopathy bring to the resource and cash-strapped health economy.
The iO are members of the Osteopathic Development Group, a collaboration between the iO, GOsC, the Osteopathic Alliance, and the National Council For Osteopathic Research. By working together with the regulator, research community and educators they aim to unite the profession to promote development, improve understanding and knowledge, support and celebrate excellence, facilitate communication and demonstrate the effectiveness of osteopathy.
